Not sure what I'm doing back here. Over 10 years have passed. Nobody reads blogs anyway. Nobody reads. Period.
So maybe this will be my own personal (not too personal) journal. My own 'thinking out loud.' We'll see.
The decision to return is parallel to my decision to return to teaching after a year off (a sabbatical year that was intended to stretch into a resignation - but here I am, back again). So naturally, this post will be about teaching in a world changing rapidly. Educations systems that I no longer believe in, but ones I subscribe to and work under. Meeting students 2-3 times a week for 15 weeks to discuss books (short ones, dwindling in size every year) is not working anymore, but we keep on pretending. We keep on trying, for the sake of the 10% of students who are still students.
Maybe this is just the whining of an old woman. I'll plan a 'nicer' post next time.
